“The most elegant dessert in Morocco — in three ingredients.”
The Story
Orange slices with cinnamon is Morocco's most understated dessert — and its most perfectly conceived. Fresh oranges (Morocco is one of the world's great orange producers) are peeled, sliced, and arranged on a plate, then dusted with cinnamon and a drizzle of orange blossom water. The combination is startlingly good: the acid of the orange, the warmth of the cinnamon, the floral lift of the blossom water. It appears at the end of every traditional Moroccan diffa (feast) as a palate cleanser, light and refreshing after heavy tagines.
