Atlantic Coast Road

About This Circuit

Morocco has one of the most dramatic Atlantic coastlines in the world — and almost nobody drives the whole thing. The Atlantic Coast Road follows the ocean from Tangier's cliffs all the way south to Dakhla's turquoise lagoon, stopping at whitewashed ports, windswept sand dunes, surfing meccas, and prehistoric rock engravings. A road trip for those who hear the ocean call.

Insider Tips

  • →Rent a car in Tangier and leave it in Dakhla — or fly back (Royal Air Maroc connects Dakhla to Casablanca)
  • →The Taghazout–Agadir coast road is one of Morocco's most scenic drives — take the coastal route not the highway
  • →Oualidia oysters are seasonal best October–April; skip in August
  • →Dakhla is technically in Western Sahara — crossing into the region is seamless but bring your passport
  • →The south Atlantic coast (Sidi Ifni to Dakhla) feels like the end of the world — embrace the emptiness
